A Short List of Long Books
5 Books Over 500 Pages
Do you ever get intimidated by the length of a book? I do. There have been times when I look at a long book and want to ask, “Can someone just tell me if this is worth it?”
Well, that's what I'm here to do! This week I'm sharing 5 books over 500 pages that I think are worthy of your time.
The Longest Book I've Ever Read
Raintree County by Ross Lockridge Jr.- 1,060 pages
When my sister and I were younger, we loved to watch older movies. The 1957 movie Raintree County staring Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift was a favorite. As an adult, I challenged myself to read the book (I believe I also challenged by sister, but I'm not sure she took me up on it).
Set between post-Civil War Indiana and the antebellum south, a sweeping novel about politics, love, and the devastating impact of untreated mental illness. I wouldn't say this is a favorite book, but I'm glad I met the challenge of finishing it!
What about you? Which long books have been worth the investment?
