September Social Media Posts for Authors

I can't believe how quickly this summer has flown by… As a mom to two school-age kids, this time of year means getting organized- both at home and in my business!

One way that I stay on top of things in my business is to plan out my social media content at least 1-2 weeks in advance. How does that sound to you? Useful? Daunting? Somewhere in the middle?

Well, to help you get organized, I've decided to start sending out monthly ideas for what YOU can post on social media. Ready to get started?

What to Post on Social Media in September

September is the start of the academic year for many people here in the United States. And with that comes lots of book-related awareness opportunities! Take advantage of some upcoming social media celebrations by posting about these events:

1. Read a Book Day- September 6th: Post a picture of your favorite book, your favorite spot to read, or ask readers for a list of their favorites. Use #readabookday to get even more traction on your posts.

2. International Literacy Day- September 8th: This awareness day focuses on the role of educators. Which teachers made the biggest impact in your life? How have teachers stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic? Include #InternationalLiteracyDay, #LiteracyDay, and #LiteracyDay2021 in your posts.

3. Read an e-book day- September 18th: Are you the author of an e-book? Or do you have e-books to recommend? Use #ebookday as an opportunity to encourage people to #readanebook.

4. Banned Books Week- September 26th-October 2nd: This is one of my favorite weeks to promote! Have you checked out the list of banned books? I bet you'll be surprised. Share some of your favorite #bannedbooks with your followers, and be sure to use #bannedbooksweek and #bannedbooksweek2021 in your post.
